Establishment of Notified Body 2976 to start MED approval service at NK Piraeus Office, Greece

Notified Body 2976 is established by Piraeus Office (Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (Greece) S.A.) to start MED approval service on 1 February 2024.
Consequently, Rotterdam Office (Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (Netherlands) B.V.) will terminate and shift our MED approval services to Piraeus Office by the end of this June.
In details of MED approval procedures from now, please refer to Marine Equipment Directive(MED) and Information for Manufacturers(MED).

Latest Implementing Regulation

The 6th amendment to the Commission Implementing Regulation has been published in the official Journal on July 6, 2022. Regulation (EU) 2022/1157 is issued on July 4, 2022 and repeals (EU) 2021/1158. The changes may be considered as minor, however some product in our scope are affected, position indicating lights and pyrotechnics, new ISO standards applicable, a new item 1.17c is introduced for davit-launched lifeboats to be used as rescue boats. COVID-19 Situation, Update

Based on recent developments in the worldwide COVID situation, partly opening up Asia (Japan) most travel restrictions are lifted, we are accepting Module D audits as usual, based on location of client the audit may be carried out partly by remote auditing techniques. The applications are considered case by case and pending scope (periodical/renewal) and or increase of products accepted. Increase of products will normally require an on-site assessment. Module B, F and G inspections are carried out, as usual, on site, as no long distance travelling is required for these inspections. Please contact this office for further information and or concerns related to inspections/audits and limitation caused by this pandemic.

Remote MarED Meeting

Because of continuing COVID-19 limitations the Mared Autumn meeting was also convened using video technology. remote meetings appear effective and the full agenda was dealt with. It is anticipated that the next meeting may be a regular meeting in Lisbon.

RVA Periodical Audit

RVA periodical audit for our C624 accreditation was completed last Wednesday partly by remote audit techniques and partly by on site attendance. remote auditing appears to be effective, however requires considerable efforts in audit preparation, allowing the remote auditor to have access to all relevant data.

The 5th amendment to the Commission Implementing Regulation has been published in the official Journal on July 16, 2021. Regulation (EU) 2021/1158 is issued on June 22, 2021 and repeals (EU) 2020/1170.

Because of recent COVID-19 situation, which caused cancellation of the Spring Mared Meeting a remote Conveners meeting was held using remote video technology. The complete agenda was passed including discussion on Draft Recommendations and latest developements related to the upcoming 15th amendment of the Annex. The next, "normal" meeting will be scheduled for November 2021.

COVID-19 Situation

Based on latest guidance received related to COVID-19 we are returning to a more normal condition in relation with our inspection and assessments. All our inspections and assessments in Asia returned to "normal" where we are using sometimes "remote" audit possibilities. Only in Europe we do, because of flight restrictions, still encounter minor issues in arranging and attending audits/inspections outside The Netherlands.

RvA Scope amended by item 2.10

The RvA has published today our new scope which is now including item 2.10 of the Implementing Regulation, Exhaust Gas Cleaning Systems. Because of this scope increase we may now accept applications for Module B and G for EGCS.

The EU has published the new Equipment List; Implementing Regulation (EU) 2019/1397 dated August 6, 2019 in the Official Journal on September 13, 2019. This new Regulation will become active on the twentieth day after publishing.

New Equipment list Published

The EU has published the latest Equipment List; Implementing Regulation 2018/773 with date of issuance May 15, 2018 in the Official Journal on May 30, 2018. This new Regulation will become active 14 days after publishing.

New Website On Line!

In just over one month after going to the drawing board, the new website of NKK (Netherlands) BV came online yesterday January 1, 2018. The website has been simplified and is now referring only to essential information related to the Marine Equipment Directive. Publishing of data on issued Certificates has now been shifted to the MarED website. The new website is presently on trial. It is anticipated that news messages will be updated regularly including the outcome of MarED Meetings and publishing of important data by the EU.

Development of new website commenced

Based on frequent requests from our customers, and also based on comments from our certifying organization (RvA), NKK(Netherlands)BV commenced developing a new website.
The website will be developed in house using HTML5 and CSS, which will allow for a more modern appearance of the website.
It is anticipated that the new website will be on line on January 1, 2018.

New Implementing Regulation Published by EU

The EU has published last Friday the latest version of the Implementing Regulation, (EU)2017-306 covering the latest update to the Annex to the Marine Equipment Directive 2014-90-EU. This is the second edition of the Implementing Regulation which replaces (EU)2015-559 issued last year September.
5 new items have been introduced to the list, covering among others high expansion foam for fire fighting equipment, and exhaust gas cleaning systems equipment.
